After a number of years growing and nurturing a wonderful community, STAG Founder Kathryn decided to step down from running the website and let her baby develop on to the next phase, we’re so grateful for all she has done for the families in this area and want to thank her for doing such an amazing job.
Here at York Mumbler, We’re excited to take STAG Mumbler under our wing and get it to the next level of growth. We want to make sure you continue to get all the useful information from STAG – But with the benefit of the links with York Mumbler too!
We know lots of local families travel between the STAG regions and York, so want to strengthen these links and provide an even more comprehensive website packed with ideas, information and inspiration for families. We also want to get to know all the great things going on in Selby, Tadcaster and Goole for families in those areas, and also to share that information even more regularly.
The York Mumbler website and STAG websites will continue to operate as separate websites, each focussing on supplying families with local information, ideas and news to help parents and carers living in each area.
The Facebook news pages and Instagram feeds will also continue to operate under the York and STAG names.
The biggest change will be an amalgamation of the York and STAG Facebook chat groups, which once joined up will have over 26,000 members. The Facebook chat group is free for parents and carers to join and enables you to ask other members for advice, support and recommendations. Chat Group members can also sell their child related items to local families. If you haven’t joined the York Mumbler Facebook Page yet then please do so here
We are really excited to be looking after an even bigger group of families moving forwards. We decided there would be huge benefits to both the York audience and STAG audience by combining both chat groups to give an even bigger pool for advice, ideas and inspiration to parents.

The chat groups will be fully merged by the end of May 2025 and will have over 26,000 members once combined.
We will be recruiting some local community champions, reviewers and local enthusiast volunteers to ensure the STAG area is kept up to date with the latest news and information, so watch this space for more info on those roles later this Spring..
Businesses will be able to advertise across both the York and STAG territories to reach an even bigger audience. With lots of families living across the total region and within a 45 minute drive, businesses can reach new customers and grow their brand visibility.

York Mumbler was set up by Emily Pickard in 2012, who set up the York community chat group as a way for new parents to find each other, share advice and have a sense of community within the city.
Supporting Emily are a group of like-minded parents who are driven by a mission to make life easier for parents in York. Working behind the scenes, our Facebook admin team are a group of volunteers who moderate in the chat group to ensure it remains a safe space for parents and carers. Our social media scouts (big and mini Mumblers) are on the road capturing the latest goings on in York and showcasing the best bits for families.
Over at HQ we are busy creating our own content and family guides on the website, sharing news, adding events and job postings from local businesses and communities and tirelessly working to ensure all the information on the website is kept up to date, especially around the school holidays!
