26 October – 3 November 2019
An unmissable half term, with the fiery return of Future Engineers and a face-to-face encounter with the original Rocket.
Find wonder in the everyday and inspiration in the unexpected in this year’s Future Engineers, which runs throughout October half term.
Our highlights are below, but there’s plenty more to discover during your visit.
FORCES: FUTURE ENGINEERS
Investigate the effects of forces on your everyday lives and learn how engineers conquer them in your favourite hands-on challenges, new activity zones and opportunities to meet real engineers.
Our star attraction is a Circus Skills Workshop, where a pair of fire-breathing circus performers will reveal the science behind their top tricks.
Head to the Pressure Zone to squash, sculpt and sketch your way through a world of physics and find out how animals such as the peculiar-looking blobfish are affected by the forces around them.
Slow the pace down a little with a visit to our Engineering is Everywhere living room containing objects with force-defying designs.
ROCKET IN BRASS, STEEL AND FIRE
Come face-to-face with the original world-changing Rocket and explore our wonderful Brass, Steel and Fire exhibition, which is packed with marvellous miniature locomotives
A GREAT DAY OUT
It’s not all circuses and science at the National Railway Museum this October half-term. Feel the wind in your hair on our Steam Rides and Miniature Railway or catch a ride on our brand-new Road Train.
