Attention all Mums who love to sing!
We are the Abbey Belles – a female barbershop chorus based in Selby. We love singing together in harmony but we also like to have fun! We are a welcoming bunch and no audition is necessary.
The first 3 sessions are free and we meet on Tuesday evenings. We have a variety of ladies of all ages and from all walks of life!
It is a fact that singing is good for you! Improving your mental and physical health. One of our tenors (the highest part) joined when her second baby was just 6 weeks old.
“Singing in the chorus helped me through postnatal depression and then through the COVID lockdowns when we did Zoom choir. I have always left the session happier than I arrived. Carving out that little bit of regular time for me is one of the best things I have ever done.”
It lets you search for things like nappies and wipes, by brand or size and it will tell you how much these items are in a wide range of stores, ensuring you can quickly find the cheapest options, saving you money month on month.
As an IDTA registered dance school, we offer classes for children in Ballet, Tap, Modern Jazz, Freestyle, Streetdance, Musical Theatre, Acro and Contemporary. Our youngest students are just 18months and we hold classes for all ages up to 18. We are keen to reintroduce our adult classes from Step 3.
Our classes are dynamic, fun and student-oriented. We offer generous sibling and multi-class discount, and are entirely inclusive. Classes run for beginners, through grades and medal stages and we even have our own Performance Company for those who take dancing seriously! We have a passion for our students’ well-being and are proud of the recognised teaching qualifications of our staff.
We have classes in Thorganby Village Hall, Escrick Village Hall and at Knavesmire Primary School.
If you are looking for friendly, fun classes with high quality teaching, contact us to book your free trial.
“I would thoroughly recommend Derwent Danceworks. They’ve put on an exceptional amount classes for all of their students during lockdown, and we’ve enjoyed both the saved routine videos online as well as virtual classes. My son has been going to and enjoyed boys streetdance since he was 4 years old, still going strong now at 7. It’s a lovely class.”
“We took our little girl from 2 years old to Derwent Danceworks in Thorganby. She loved it and was only £3.50 a class – only stopped as we’re unable to make the time due to my work now. Highly recommend.”

Local and friendly dance school specialising in Ballet, Tap and Modern dance in ISTD syllabus. Jazz and Adult Ballet classes held on Monday evenings.
Classes held in Osgodby, Riccall and Fulford, Monday – Friday evenings and Saturday daytime.
‘My daughter has attended Sally Corbally‘s dance classes in Riccall for a while now and really enjoys them. She does ballet and tap and gets to take part in a big show every couple of years, would highly recommend the classes for children of all abilities.’
FF, Jan 19
‘At three years old our daughter joined Sally Corbally’s School of Dance. She absolutely loved to sing and dance and Sally came highly recommend. Two years later her love of dancing has continued to grow which is down to the excellent teaching of Sally and her dance teachers. Sally really has given our daughter a chance to shine, taking part in her first dance show this May and completing her bronze award in tap and ballet this July. There is a real focus on enjoyment for dance in the sessions and our daughters confidence has improved greatly as well as her technique. I would wholeheartedly recommend Sally Corbally’s school of dance to any parent whose child has an interest in dance and performing. ‘

“They absolutely love being taught by her, and even when this all returns to normal, I would definitely like to keep her support in place for them all”
Mum of Year 8, 9 and 10 students
“She really enjoyed her session yesterday. I left them to it and could hear her talking enthusiastically, she was very upbeat afterwards which actually made me feel quite emotional, often after trying to do maths with her myself we are both emotional for the wrong reasons! We definitely want to carry on.”
Mum of a Year 3 student
“My daughter finds the online sessions fun and interactive and has adapted really well. It gives me great peace of mind that for at least one session each week she is supported by a qualified tutor who can ensure any gaps are filled…Smiles and Miles offer really fun, flexible and child focussed learning. I would recommend them to anyone.”
Mum of a Year 6 student
“ …not only have the sessions improved his grades but boosted his confidence immensely. He looks forward to his sessions every week.”
Mum of a Year 6 student
“…she was in desperate need of some structure and routine so we called Smiles and Miles Tutoring to come to the rescue! I was absolutely blown away! The tutor was amazing and kept my daughter’s attention for the whole session. She really enjoyed it and can’t wait for the next session”
Mum of an Early Years Student
“The online sessions go at my daughter’s pace and the tutor always makes sure that she engages with the subject and fully understands it before moving on. She also makes sure that the sessions are fun and engaging. Thank you!”

PQA is a weekend performing arts Academy providing tuition for children and young people from 4-18 years. Students spend three hours with us, rotating through hour-long sessions in Comedy & Drama, Musical Theatre and Film & Television. Students are split into groups according to their age and are taught by specialist teachers.
By working with outstanding people we provide our students with a constantly evolving experience that is fresh, exciting and contemporary. We instil the benefits of the performing arts into a new generation of young people, helping them to realise their potential, grow as individuals and become the people they want to be as they learn skills valuable for everyday life, not just the performing arts.
PQA’s specialist modules, packed full of tips that Pauline has learnt from nearly 50 years in the business, will teach young people everything they need to know to act, sing, dance or direct like a professional.
Above all, we encourage our students to be amazing, just by being themselves.
