Ok Mumblers, I believe in full disclosure so here you go. When I was asked to review this product I had my reservations. Not because I didn’t believe in the product, but because I didn’t feel I was the right person to review it. I am not really into having my nails done – I have so many friends who regularly have manicures or gel nail polish and their nails look fantastic but I have only ever had my nails done for a special occasion. Since having children that is probably a grand total of once! I am not very good at ‘fiddly’ things, I have zero time to pamper myself and I bite my nails when I am tired or anxious – so quite often!
Now that I have actually tried out the product I realise that I was actually the best person to review it as Jamberry Nail Wraps are a do-it-yourself pampering tool that genuinely are easy to apply. Believe me ladies – if I can do it anyone can!
So what are they?
Nail wraps are thin vinyl sheets that are pressure and heat activated to adhere to your nail for a long lasting and beautiful look. They are made with durable materials, so smudges and streaks are never an issue, and can last for up to two weeks on fingernails and four weeks on toes!
How do you apply them?
I was sent everything I needed by the lovely Rachel who sells the Jamberry products: the wraps, a cuticle pusher, a nail prep wipe, an orange stick and a Jamberry mini heater (a hair dryer would work just as well). I also had instructions which were very clear and easy to follow. The process is literally a case of – choose the correct sized wrap for your nail, peel the wrap and heat it for three seconds, place on your nail with an orange stick and smooth down with your fingers, cut the excess wrap and file it down, heat the nail and smooth again. Seriously simple! It took me around half an hour which I expected for my first time but Rachel assures us that with practice this can be cut down to just fifteen minutes! The best bit is that they are easily removable with your usual nail polish remover.
What are the benefits?
Because Jamberry Nail Wraps are 8-Free, they are completely suitable to use on children if you wish. My daughter is constantly asking me to paint her nails, sometimes we have a little pamper session but I’m so paranoid about her spilling nail polish or smudging it onto her clothes that I try to avoid when I can! Imagine how delighted she was when I told her she could try nail wraps out and be the same as Mummy! One sleeve of nail wraps was enough to do both of our nails.
I am pleased to say that mother and daughter are completely converted to this product – there are so many unique designs and colours to choose from (we chose purple this time as it’s a Mumbler colour) but there are some much more adventurous patterns too. Next time I have a special occasion I will definitely be opting for Jamberry Nail Wraps – I am also going to stop biting my nails!
Trushine Gel Enamel
Jamberry also have an at-home gel manicure system called Trushine so the other half of STAG Mumbler, who has experience of gel nails but struggles to find time to book appointments around all of the other things that come with being a busy parent, volunteered to test this out. She was very excited to try the DIY gel nails out and compare with her salon experiences.
Again, another fantastic product – so easy to apply – she had the full set done within thirty minutes in the comfort of her own home. Has her first attempt turned out as pristine as salon applied nails? Of course not (she is not a qualified beautician!) but are they better than a standard home application of nail polish? Yes – absolutely! Very strong and with that lovely shiny finish. As with the nail wraps, we believe that the the more often we apply the products, the better the finish will be – practice makes perfect!
