Having heard lots about it, we decided to take a visit to the famous Blackpool Illuminations. We had distant memories of it as a child, but hadn’t been for years and certainly not with our own children. We arrived at the North Pier and took the little train down to the end of it and enjoyed a ride on the most beautiful two storey carousel we have ever seen. After a quick stop on the pier for a drink, we strolled down the promenade looking at all the wonderful lights. While we know many people chose to drive through the lights, we were joined by friends and the children were having so much fun playing together, we thought they’d miss out on this if travelling in separate cars. While a car journey through the lights, perhaps with a picnic would be fun, we decided to enjoy the walk.
There were endless things to look at and the children had lots of fun in the amusement arcades, not to mention all the ice cream and donuts they managed to consume. We finished off in The Sea, Fish and Chips Shop (Chapel St), and had yummy fish and chips to end our evening. As we passed Madame Tussauds, there was a special offer available for just £10pp, while the attractions within in looked fantastic, it was getting late and we had the drive back to consider.
Overall we had a lovely, fun day out, plenty of old school seaside fun and lots to see and do. We will definitely be heading back next year for a trip to Tussauds and maybe an overnight stay too. They had a super looking indoor adventure swimming pool which we know our mini mumblers would love that too.
