For months and months the incredible team at PQA York provided hours of virtual teaching to their many students. We’d expected the usual 3 hour session to be reduced, there was no way they’d be able to keep the students attention for three hours virtually……how wrong we were! For all 3 hours, our Mini Mumbler was as engaged as ever, how they did it, is beyond us.
Despite having great fun virtually, our Mini Mumbler just couldn’t wait to start back with her in person classes, just as she had on her very first session 3 years ago, she was sat by the door, waiting eagerly to go. We’re three weeks in now and it’s like they’ve never been away.
A message from James, the PQA York Principal
“As Principal of the Academy, I am extremely passionate about providing high quality, professional and up-to-date performing arts tuition, as well as offering the opportunity for young people to build confidence, learn life skills and make new friends. At PQA York, we ensure all of this takes place in a fun, safe and happy environment.”
What her teacher had to say
We know she loves PQA, she tells us herself and we have seen her love for performing grow more and more each week. Every opportunity she gets, the songs are on and she’s singing her heart out to the songs she has learnt and I’ll nip into her room, see her knocking out some fabulous new moves and when I ask where she learnt them, I always get a ‘We did it at PQA Mummy’. What really convinced us recently, was during her teacher/parents evening, her teacher described how she is one of the first to put her hand up when a request for someone to read out is made and she apparently compliments the reading with some super accents, all of which we know has come as a result of PQA and the confidence within her that has grown.
Do we want her to go on and be a West End star, no, not unless it’s a dream she’d like to pursue, that’s not why we signed her up. We wanted a class where she was welcomed with open arms, a safe and supportive environment that nurtures each and every student, to make friends, grow in confidence, to be themselves and have a wonderful experience week on week. The opportunities she has had since joining PQA have been endless, she’s enjoyed developing new skills in film and tv, comedy and drama, musical theatre, dance and more. She has done several showcases at the school, been on the big screen at Vue Cinema, performed at The Hive Studio Theatre in York, and this October, she’ll have the opportunity to perform on the Joseph Rowntree Theatre stage too. The opportunities don’t stop there though, each year, the PQA team take students to London to perform on a West End Stage, and even though the incredible teachers deserve a break in non-term time, they even use their time off to run an incredible Summer School, with the culmination of a full show rehearsed and performed in less that a week. The 2019 show was fabulous, it’s like they had been researching for weeks, not 4 days!
BOOK YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW
We don’t always know whether our children will like a new class or activity, and it can be expensive trying lots of different ones out. The free trial that PQA offers is perfect, your Mini Mumbler gets to try it for themselves and you get to meet the team and find out more too.
A FINAL THANK YOU TO THE PQA TEAM, FROM US
As parents, we place such a lot of trust in leaving our children with an activity provider. It’s one thing going to a new class and staying with them, but to leave them, it can be an unsettling experience. From the moment we dropped our Mini Mumbler off on her first day, we knew she was in the safest of hands. So a big thank you from us here at STAG HQ, you’ve given us 3 hours every Saturday to get many mummy tasks done (which is awesome!) and you’ve given our little girl the most wonderful opportunities, we will be forever grateful.
