Today we popped into Dairyman’s Tearoom in Riccall to grab a sandwich (and what an amazing Club Sandwich it was) and something happened that got us thinking. Behind us sat two mums, babies in arms, having a good catch up and sharing baby cuddles. Upon leaving they bought some cakes to take home. About 5 minutes later the owner noticed they had left the box of cakes behind. He could have waited for them to come back, they had paid for them, so it was no loss to him. Instead, tearoom being carefully watched, he grabbed his car keys along with the cakes and drove all around the village trying to find the mums. Sadly, they were nowhere to be found, but it made us think what a lovely thoughtful thing to do. A man who clearly understands the importance of cakes to mums!
Yesterday we heard of a wonderful new scheme launched in The Courtyard, Boothferry Road, Goole. DN14 6AE which includes having a Chatter and Natter table to help combat loneliness. Anyone who would like a natter, simply sits at the identified table and then other customers also wishing to have a natter, can sit and join them. These conversations, no matter how short could make such a difference to someones day.
It also got us thinking about all the times at a coffee shop when a staff member has so kindly offered to carry our drinks to the table, knowing we’d struggle to do it while pushing the pram. The times when another fellow parent has seen us struggling and offered to grab us a high chair.
Each and everyday there are so many tiny things you can do to help brighten someone’s day. So lets spread some kindness around and join the STAG Mumbler challenge.
WHAT TO DO NEXT…..
Simply comment ‘I’m joining the random act of kindness challenge’ and then at some point this week, take a moment and do something random and lovely for someone. It doesn’t matter how big or small or who its for, just do it! The post will stay pinned to the top of our page, so once you’ve done it, please pop back and comment with what you did.
Thank you for helping us spread some cheer ! Kathryn & Caroline x
