If you think you can offer a child a safe and loving home, please get in touch with us at Fostering North Yorkshire – or come along to one of Find out about Fostering stands during March – here’s where we’ll be:

Attention all Mums who love to sing!
We are the Abbey Belles – a female barbershop chorus based in Selby. We love singing together in harmony but we also like to have fun! We are a welcoming bunch and no audition is necessary.
The first 3 sessions are free and we meet on Tuesday evenings. We have a variety of ladies of all ages and from all walks of life!
It is a fact that singing is good for you! Improving your mental and physical health. One of our tenors (the highest part) joined when her second baby was just 6 weeks old.
“Singing in the chorus helped me through postnatal depression and then through the COVID lockdowns when we did Zoom choir. I have always left the session happier than I arrived. Carving out that little bit of regular time for me is one of the best things I have ever done.”
Joining the Guide Dogs family means that together we will be helping more people with sight loss to live actively, independently, and well.
We have a variety of roles that contribute to the work we do. Whether you can give a minute, an hour, or a lifetime we have something for you. You can work directly with our dogs or with people who are visually impaired. You can support raising awareness of our services, organise events for us and much more.
Without our volunteers, we wouldn’t be able to reach and support as many visually impaired people as we do. We’re thankful for every one of our volunteers and want to continue expanding our Guide Dogs family to support more people.

It is great to be able to really understand the difficulties a child is having with their work, and to spend time on overcoming those problem areas, through learning activities that are truly tailored to the individual. Home-Start is a charity that supports families when they need that little bit of extra help. A family can request the support if they have a child under 8. The support can be for anything from financial worries, routines, relationship breakdowns, illness, multiple births, or just because being a parent can be really tough and tiring sometimes!
We have been well-established in Goole for over 26 years and in recent years we are really pleased to have started to cover areas in and around Selby.
We support families with home-visiting volunteers who offer support, friendship and practical help, and we are now recruiting for the next Volunteer Training Course which is running in May. We currently have a lot more families needing support than we have volunteers, if you could spare a few hours a week, you could really make a difference!

Due to high demand from local primary and secondary schools in the York and Harrogate area, WorkwithSchools urgently require Teaching Assistants and part-time supply teachers. This is for a variety of interesting ad hoc, short and long-term bookings, on either a part or full time basis.
We’re looking for qualified and/or experienced Teaching Assistants as well as part-time supply teachers, to work within Early Years and across all year groups within KS1 and KS2. We also require Teaching Assistants to provide SEN support for students with a range of disabilities and within a class and/or on a one to one basis. If you have volunteered as a parent in a school, supporting a class teacher, and the school are willing to give you a reference, we should be able to offer you paid work as a Teaching Assistant.
Who are WorkwithSchools?
Formerly a supply teacher agency set up by City of York Council, our strong and lasting relationships span many years and we have provided supply teachers and support staff at all levels of their careers. We’re a teaching agency with a difference – out of our profits, we pay a dividend to the council, supporting services in the local community and our unique position allows us to be competitive whilst retaining our desire to be an ethical agency.
We are a well-established supply teaching agency in the local area and regularly receive great feedback from our supply staff and school clients. Don’t just take our word for it, check out our google reviews.
